"Self-improvement for the service of others is the essence of Songahm philosophy, a respectful view taught in tandem with the physical techniques of our martial art. We strive to get better so we can do more for others and ourselves. We set goals and achieve them; we grow stronger through practice, and learn we can reach farther if only we try. Leadership is the next step, expanding the experience from the classroom to the trails, parks, senior centers, food banks, animal shelters and more. We are creating Leaders to meet the Needs of Our World (NOW) through Songahm Martial Arts training."

Songahm Taekwondo is truly life-changing, not only for those who practice it but also for those who benefit from their leadership. The skills and attitude that WTTU/ATA/STF instructors teach and students learn set them apart from other athletes and empower them to reach extraordinary goals inside and outside the classroom.

We want our leadership students to take the lead everywhere they go by speaking up with respect and confidence, stepping up to volunteer, organizing and delegating a group, being able to interact with people of different ages and abilities  and supporting others in leadership roles. Leadership classes will teach the skills vital to helping students reach these goals- public speaking, communication, teamwork, problem solving, delegating, time management and more.

Students will be given the opportunity to practice these skills by acting as role models in class, helping out with Action Family ATA events, taking part in Xtreme Martial Arts classes, attending tournaments and testing and by participating in the many fundraisers and community service projects Action Family ATA supports throughout the year.

Over the years Action Family ATA has participated in numerous fundraisers and service projects to help broaden the horizons and create awareness in our students.

One of the required steps to earn a Black Belt at Action Family ATA, is for the student to set and reach a Community Goal. Our students have shined in this area and have made the world a better place and helped out those in need by collecting items for animal shelters, food banks, families in need, the children’s hospital, and other local charities. They have also volunteered at food banks, animal shelters, nursing homes, local charities and participated in walk-a-thons and jump-a-thons.
"Leadership is not about ability- it’s about taking responsibility, exceeding expectations, taking charge and helping those in need."

Students and their families drank only water for two weeks. The money that was saved by not purchasing soda, milk, juice boxes and other drinks was donated to The Water Project to help build wells in third world countries.

During the month of November, Action Family ATA has hosted food drives for 9Cares Colorado Shares.

After the earthquake in Haiti, Action Family ATA's Leadership Team hosted a shoe drive to help Soles4Souls send 1,000,000 pairs of shoes to earthquake survivors. | Read Story | Pictures |

The past few years, Action Family ATA has held many events- Brick Break-a-Thons, Board Break-a-Thons, Push-up Challenges, charity dinners and Halloween carnivals to raise money to bring Martial Arts and Leadership Training to local at-risk children.
