Songahm Taekwondo:
A Martial Art that trains people physically and mentally
|
Action Family ATA Martial Arts is a part of The American Taekwondo Association, one of the largest martial arts organizations in the world. The organization has thrived since 1969 as a result of Grand Master Lee's lifetime vision of sharing the spirit of Songahm and positive impact of martial arts training with as many people as possible.
Whether interested in fitness, self-defense, or stress relief, ATA Songahm Taekwondo is a fun and effective training program for people of all ages, sizes and ability levels. While gaining confidence, improving coordination, and getting and staying in shape, students can enjoy the mental and physical benefits of Songahm Taekwondo.
Songahm Taekwondo challenges the entire body- physical fitness as well as developing coordination, balance, agility, and poise- qualities that are often neglected but can benefit the student in many team sports.

Leadership skills are crucial tools for success at home, in the community, at school and in the workplace. The Leadership Program is open to students of all ages who want to reach their full potential not only as a Martial Artist, but in all aspects of life. ATA Xtreme:
"Start strong, end strong."
|
"The ability to perform highly skilled moves and also the ability to perform basic moves and make them look spectacular! This is why XMA is not only for the elite level athletes and competitors, but also for beginners at the entry level as well. It is the look in one’s eyes and position of one’s body that tells the story. It’s not only about punching and kicking, or jumping and flipping, but more, showing strength through the mind as well as the body. To stand planted with your feet on the ground and command the attention of the audience without sound or movement, using only the look in your eyes and the strength of your stance, actually shows more power than any punch, kick or flip. That’s Xtreme!" - Mike Chat, creator of XMA

ATA Fit:
Create Healthy Habits that Last a Lifetime
|
"The ATA Fit is a workout that readies your body for virtually any physical activity and can be geared toward anyone from pro athletes to the non athletes. Most other training programs work on cardiovascular endurance and/or strength but ATA FIT develops flexibility, power, speed, coordination, agility, accuracy, and balance. With regards to cardiovascular endurance the workouts alternate between short bursts of exertion and rest. According to Dr. Izumi Tabata, a Japanese sports science specialist, this type of training (short bursts of exertion) will significantly improve one's aerobic and anaerobic capacities." --Taken from the ATA Fit Brochure

ATA Tournaments:
"To compete is to win."
|
In reality, competition is not just in a ring. Students of Songahm Taekwondo, as well as all other human beings, are competing with self on a daily basis. We compete with our body to lose weight. We compete with our mind to retain knowledge, and we compete with our intellect on our spiritual convictions. Even in the case of a match against an opponent, we are not only competing against that person's skill, but also against ourselves to the the absolute best that we can. Therefore, tournaments are a great opportunity for increasing skills as well as boosting confidence. And, just as importantly, it is possible to learn self control over a temper, or become motivated to react positively instead of negatively to outcomes one does not desire.
